VISUAL IDENTITY PRODUCT BRANDING
Smarsh is an industry leader in cloud-based archiving and compliance solutions for organizations in heavily regulated fields, such as financial institutions and government agencies. Over the years, as they gained capabilities through internal development and acquisitions, they have amassed a diverse portfolio of products.
One of the projects we did as part of our retainer for Smarsh was assisting in re-organizing their product suites. We collaborated closely with the executive team to develop a coherent product architecture for their different solutions, consisting of complimentary but sometimes overlapping products. Our job was twofold: First, we helped to visualize the product structures by experimenting with different organizational diagrams. As the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words," and these diagrams demonstrated to their customers how the various products and workflows are interlinked to provide the best results.
Our second task was to express the structure through product branding design. We followed the lineage of the development architecture and created logos and graphic systems for the different products. Each has its own visual identity but also fits within the larger organization. Through color schemes and shared visual elements, customers can quickly identify the suites of products that work together.
